Meta Ads Course in India: How to Learn Facebook and Instagram Ads in 2026

Facebook and Instagram ads are a core channel for many D2C brands and local businesses in India, and you can learn the basics free. This guide shows where to learn, what the paid certification costs, and how to practise without burning money.

Planning Facebook and Instagram ad creatives in Meta Ads Manager
Quick answer: The official free way to learn Meta ads is Meta Blueprint, which offers free courses, study guides and practice tests. Meta's certification exams are paid: the Digital Marketing Associate exam is listed at the equivalent of US$99 and professional exams such as Media Buying at US$150. A paid Meta ads course is worth it only if it gives you hands-on campaign practice and feedback; either way, a small capped test campaign teaches more than theory alone.

What should a Meta ads course teach?

Facebook and Instagram ads run through Meta Ads Manager. A good course, free or paid, should leave you able to do these things:

Skill areaWhat you should be able to do
Business setupSet up a Business Portfolio, ad account, Page and Instagram account with the right permissions
TrackingInstall the Meta Pixel and Conversions API, define events, and check they fire correctly
Campaign objectivesChoose the right objective (awareness, traffic, leads, sales) for the business goal
AudiencesUse broad targeting, custom audiences and lookalikes, and know when each helps
CreativeBrief and test images, Reels and carousels; write hooks and primary text
AutomationUnderstand Advantage+ options and what you give up in control
TestingRun A/B tests and read results without over-reacting to small numbers
ReportingExplain CPM, CTR, cost per result and ROAS, and link them to business outcomes

For the metrics, read what performance marketing is. It explains CPM, CTR, CAC and ROAS with rupee examples.

Is Meta Blueprint free, and what does the certification cost?

Meta Blueprint training is free: courses, study guides and practice tests. The exams are paid. When we checked Meta's certification FAQ in September 2026, the Digital Marketing Associate exam was listed at the equivalent of US$99, and professional exams such as Media Buying at US$150. Meta also offers skill-based certifications and specialist badges; check each exam page for its current terms.

The entry-level exam is 100-101, the Meta Certified Digital Marketing Associate. According to Meta's exam page it has 60 questions in 90 minutes, and you need 700 out of 1,000 to pass. The biggest topic weight is creating and managing ads, at 44%.

Validity depends on the exam, and Meta's pages list periods from 12 to 24 months. Check the exam page before booking.

Is the Meta certification worth paying for?

It depends on your stage. For a fresher, the free Blueprint training plus a small real campaign is usually better value than paying for the exam first. For someone already running ads, the certification can add credibility with agency clients.

There is one more route. Meta's Social Media Marketing Professional Certificate on Coursera is a six-course series, suggested at about five months at 10 hours a week. Coursera says the Digital Marketing Associate exam is included with the programme, with one free retake. Coursera charges a subscription, so check its current page for the Indian price.

Paid Meta ads courses in India range from short recorded courses to multi-month programmes. Prices vary widely, so check each provider's current page. Ask these questions before you pay:

  • Will I run a campaign on a real ad account, or only watch screen recordings?
  • Does someone review my creatives, audiences and reports?
  • Is Pixel and Conversions API setup taught hands-on?
  • Is the content updated for current Ads Manager features, such as Advantage+?
  • What will I have in my portfolio at the end?

Treat any promise of a guaranteed job or salary as a warning sign.

ISS is a broader marketing programme rather than a Meta-only course. If you only want Meta ads, Blueprint plus practice may be enough.

How can you practise Meta ads on a low budget?

Here is a four-week plan. The budgets are ISS editorial estimates, not Meta figures, and Meta sets its own minimum budgets in Ads Manager.

WeekLearnDoEstimated spend
1Blueprint: ads basics, objectivesSet up a Business Portfolio, ad account and Pixel on a simple landing page₹0
2Audiences and creativeMake 3 creatives with different hooks; write audience notes₹0
3TestingRun one campaign with the 3 creatives, capped daily budget, 7 daysAbout ₹2,000–₹3,500
4ReportingCompare CTR and cost per result; write what you would change₹0

What to promote: a free resource you made, a friend's small business with written agreement, or a local event. Avoid restricted categories such as finance, health claims or politics, which have extra rules.

Safety rules: set a daily budget and an end date, check the spend after the first day, and turn off anything you do not understand. Never run ads on someone else's account without clear written permission.

What do employers check when hiring for Meta ads?

Agencies and D2C brands in cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi NCR usually test judgement more than button knowledge. Expect questions like:

  • Which objective would you choose for this goal, and why?
  • Your CPM went up and ROAS dropped. What would you check first?
  • How do you decide when a creative test has enough data?
  • How do you check that the Pixel is tracking purchases correctly?

A short case study from your practice campaign answers most of these better than a badge. Use our performance marketing portfolio guide to write it up, and practise with our digital marketing interview questions. Search skills matter too; see our Google Ads course guide.
