Coursera listed it at ₹1,902 per month after a 7-day free trial in September 2026. It is also included in a Coursera Plus subscription, and Coursera says need-based financial aid is available.

What does the Google certificate teach well?
- The analysis process: asking the right question, preparing and cleaning data, analysing, and sharing results. This framing is useful in interviews.
- Spreadsheets: sorting, filtering, VLOOKUP, pivot tables and formulas.
- SQL basics: the "Analyze Data" course covers JOINs, subqueries, aggregate functions such as COUNT and COUNT DISTINCT, and temporary tables.
- Tableau: the visualization course teaches Tableau Public, dashboards and data storytelling.
- R and an introduction to Python: enough to read and write simple analysis code.
- A capstone case study you can put in a portfolio.
For someone starting from zero, this is a well-organised, affordable foundation.

The certificate was designed for a global audience. When you compare it with the job posts you are targeting in India, a few gaps often show up. Search "data analyst" on the job sites you use, in your city, and count which tools appear most; that is the best check for your situation.
1. No Power BI
The visualization course teaches Tableau only; Power BI and Looker are not covered. Many Indian employers, especially in services and enterprise settings, ask for Power BI. 2. SQL stops before advanced topics
The SQL content covers JOINs, subqueries and temporary tables. CTEs and window functions (ROW_NUMBER, RANK, running totals) are not mentioned in the course materials we checked. These come up often in analyst interviews. See our SQL course guide for how to fill this gap.
3. R instead of deeper Python
R gets a lot of attention in the certificate, while Python has one introductory course. Check your target job posts: if they mention Python and Pandas more than R, spend your extra time there.
4. Limited human feedback
Assignments are mostly auto-graded or peer-graded. Nobody tells you that your dashboard is confusing or that your SQL is inefficient. You will need to find feedback elsewhere, for example from peers, communities or a mentor.
5. The capstone looks like everyone else's
Many learners complete the same case-study options. Recruiters who have seen many of them may not be impressed by it alone. Build at least one original project with Indian or domain-specific data. Our list of data analyst resume projects has ideas.

A fair comparison depends on what you need. The Google certificate wins on cost and flexibility. A live program costs more but adds scheduled classes and people reviewing your work.

How to get the most out of the certificate
If you decide to take it, a few habits make the monthly fee go further:
- Set a fixed weekly schedule. Self-paced courses are easy to pause. Block the same hours each week, for example two weekday evenings and one weekend morning.
- Redo the SQL exercises on your own database. Install PostgreSQL or MySQL locally and rewrite the queries from memory. It builds more confidence than following along in the browser.
- Rebuild one Tableau dashboard in Power BI. This quickly teaches the second tool and gives you a portfolio piece that shows both.
- Pick an Indian dataset for your capstone. Public data on sales, transport or government services makes your project different from the standard options.
- Write up every project. A short note on the question, method, finding and recommendation is what interviewers ask about.
So, is the Google Data Analytics Certificate worth it in India?
Worth it if: you are a beginner, you want to test whether analytics suits you before spending more, you are disciplined enough to study alone, or budget is your main constraint.
Probably not enough on its own if: you need a job quickly, your target roles ask for Power BI and advanced SQL, or you know you need deadlines and feedback to finish.
